I just got a betta fish and have had him about two weeks. A couple days ago he started to not eat anymore and he’ll just sit on he bottom of the tank all day. I’ve been feeding him dry pellets and today tried giving him some frozen brine shrimp but he just wouldn’t eat. He also was in a fight a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been giving him Bettafix remedy to help heal his fins. Any idea why he’s acting this way? Thanks!
Some of the guys in my house got three of them and kept them in a small bowl overnight..Let’s just say mine was the winner.
Give him those little tiny red worms. Only 1 or 2 a day. They are sedintary. Get another one in a seperate container, close to the one he is in. They are fun to watch spar.Oh and use purified water only. They don’t dig chlorine.

Sometimes mine does this too ( I’ve never had him fight). Every once and a while, he does this for a few days, and then he is just fine, and acts normal again. Try not feeding him everyday, you may be feeding him too much.

They sell freeze-dried blood worms in pet shops. If he doesn’t eat those, then I’d be surprised.

do not feed a beta everyday, if thats what you are doing its probally why he isnt eatting. I have had betta that lasted way beyond the regular life span. Why was he in a fight? Betta need to be kept alone, they are extreamly territorial.

He is stuffed and has given up on eating. He will eat again when he feels like it.
I have a beta and only feed him a pinch of food in the morning. Don’t feed him more than he can eat in 3 minutes.
Also, make sure you keep the container clean. I clean my container once a week to 10 days. So, it might be time to clean the container.

I have a beta fish too (Claude
) and he gets picky sometimes too. Beta fish are actually known to be picky eaters. If you change their food it takes them awhile to get used to it. They are REALLY picky eaters!! The good thing is that a beta can live for quite awhile without food (3 weeks or more!) so if he doesn’t eat it for a couple days, it isn’t something to worry about too much. If in a week and a half to two weeks he still isn’t eating it, then you may want to try a different food. Good luck!

It may be a problem with the water
Do you live in an area where the water supply is treated or are you on a private well?
If you have a treated water supply you may be able to get drops to treat the water and remove an ammonia build up.
Private wells sometimes have too much of a certain mineral dissolved in the water. Or salts from water softeners.
Some people buy bottles water for their fish tanks.
