Brine Shrimp hatching?

My hatchery has been going for a day and i dont know what to look for when they have hatched? Also does it make a difference having light on it for the whole time?

  1. I’ve been hatching brine shrimp for years – I don’t use any other light than the one in my kitchen, which is turned off throughout the night and I still get a very good hatch rate.

after 24-36 hours of putting the eggs in, your brine shrimp will mostly have hatched. Turn off the air pump. Wait about five or six minutes.

The unhatched eggs will float at the top and the brine shrimp will usually sink towards the bottom. Then (assuming you have the 2-liter set up) you can drain the hatchery through the air hose leading into the bottom, and strain into a brine shrimp net, or a coffee filter. You don’t need to do that if you have marine fish – just for freshwater fish.

This is the method I use:

Works great for me – my fish LOVE baby brine shrimp!

  3. Is it one of those box Brine Shrimp Hatcheries?

To be honest, any hatchery is a waste of money and all you need is to buy the vial of eggs.

As for your question, if you did everything right and waiting for them to hatch. Temperature and heat does play a factor. If the water is to cold, likely they won’t hatch.

Best to hatch them in a glass container, about half a foot or bigger vertical size. When they hatch point the lamp to one side of the container and suck them up with a turkey baster. Brine Shrimp are attracted to light.

    Container
    Table Salt
    Eggs
    Water
    Lamp

Add everything together into the container, put the lamp on top. 24-48 hours the eggs hatch, point the lamp to one side of the container. Suck in shrimp with turkey baster and feed to fish.

  4. it sometimes looks more red when they hatch just unplug your aerator if you used one and wait until it settles. toward the bottom you should see them swimming around especially if you shine a light there it causes them to swarm at it light makes it hatch faster but it does not need to be constant
