What do you feed a eel? My son-in-law bought a eel and 3 red tipped black sharks last night, and don’t know what they eat. He has tried frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp and regular flakes. So far he said the sharks eat but the eel hasn’t touched anything. What’s your advice? Thanks.
try to give it sometime to get used to your tank. many fish dont eat for the first few days because everything is differnt then what it was at the store. but aome fish eat after only a few hours like your sharks did. good luck!

What kind of eel is it? Spiny eels will eat live black worms and perhaps other worms for variety. They will also eat ghost shrimp and small fish about the size of guppies and neon Tetras. Morays will eat the same and larger Snow Flake eels may eat live comet goldfish and pieces of fish and shrimp bought at the grocery store. It is true that most new pets do not eat at first and are adjusting to the suroundings and he will not die from a few days without food. Just tell him to keep trying, eventually he will eat.
Good luck : )

what type of eel?many will eat frozen brine shrimp or fish flakes. If you have a peacock eel then they are nocturnal and you will often times not see them eat.plus they will bury themselves under gravel. If you have a dinosaur eel it will often take about 4 days before it to become really active.
IF you have one of these and have a question then email me

Eels can be picky and some it is hard to get them to eat. I have striped peacocks and a tiretrack eel…I have never seen the peacock eat. I have had it for like 4 months so it must as it looks healthy. Now my tiretrack is the first one to the top of tank when it comes feeding time. I feed frozen bloodworms, tubifex worms, brine shrimp, glassworms, and plankton. They will not eat flake food. One thing you could try is take a turkey baster or some sort of syringe and place the food in his cave or where ever he hangs out. He may eat and you just don’t see him.
