It’s very surprising that GSP”s mate in aquariums. Do you have them in brackish water? What size tank do you have them in?
Do these fish you have with them go in brackish water? Do you have pictures you can post????
I found this, it does no help to you, but gives a little info,
Breeding: Only little is know about breeding Green Spotted Puffers. Breeding has been successfully done in captivity but only little information is available. It seems that successful breeding has only occurred in brackish water and that spawning takes places after some sort of courtship. Sexual diphormism is unexisting.
The eggs are laid on the substrate or a flat stone. The male guards the eggs and the fry. The eggs hatch in about a week. The fry is also very difficult to feed. Try feeding newly hatched brine shrimps or Cyclops nauplii.
Are you saying that all those fish not the babies are only in a 10 gallon tank? GSP’s need at least 30 gallons by themselves. Please go to a forum and talk to experts on these guys! They are so hard to take care of! They can be in freshwater for now, but it has to be high end brackish when they are older. And please try to get some pictures, because GSP’s are very very hard to breed. I would like to see them so if we can really tell what they are……

That’s a definite surprise! As the first answer indicates, it not often that they spawn in home aquaria (unlike dwarf puffers). Plus, yours have to be kept a much lower salinity than is suggested for adults if you’ve got neons with them. Greenspotteds are high-end brackish, but the juveniles are more brackish.
If yours have spawned twice, there’s no reason to think they’ll stop as long as the conditions are correct for them. If yours are young and these are first broods, they may increase in size as the fish mature. Since egg production takes some resources on the part of the female, you should make sure she gets plenty of nutritious foods.
Whatever you’re doing differently, the puffers must like it!

I’ll just join the others in saying congrats! as you already have some quality answers. You really should write up your experience and place it on a few websites and possibly send it to a few magazines. Others would be interested in learning from you! I for one would be very interested in knowing what your doing to have such great success.

What ever you have done just recently must be the reason. You might have to find a way to get rid of some the babies if not they’ll all get sick in your tank.
