What are some things at home that you can find to feed brine shrimp?

I can’t go out to buy anything and my shrimp are probably going to hatch tomorrow.I know they don’t need to be fed right after they hatch but i just want to be prepared.

  1. I fed mine bakers yeast, just a little or you’ll contaminate the water and get to find out what a pain it is to try to save newly hatched brine shrimp from a water change.

I hatched them in a 2 gallon cone, I fed them enough yeast to cover the last 1/4″ of a flat toothpicks wide end, but didn have a heaping pile on the end. They were fed once a week, though I later switched to less twice a week.

  2. For food, a pinch of baker’s or brewer’s yeast once a week should be fine. Mark the water level on the container. As water evaporates, add more tap water—not salt water—to keep the salt concentration the same. Put the container near a window or under a light during the day and watch the brine shrimp grow.
