What are these weird things swimming in my fresh water tank? Part 2?

I posted a question a few days ago about my angelfish (marble angels) and I said they had laid eggs and now all of the eggs are gone (they ate them) none hatched. Well there are these weird off white “things” alive and swimming around in my tank. At first they looked like lice? They are so tiny its hard to really tell what they are even with a magnifying glass. Well now they are taking the form of something that looks like a tiny tiny inch worm. (Again, very hard to tell even with a magnifying glass) They are crawling around on the glass, and the other form (looks like lice) swim around in the tank. One person said maybe it is a “Hydra”? i’m not sure since its hard to tell what these things in my tank look like. If they are Hydra, I thought someone said you had to have brine shrimp to cause this and I dont have any. ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE HELPFUL.. Other than that I’m gonna try to kill the beasties before something happens to my fish who seem clueless.

  2. Could they be mosquito larvae? I would remove them regardless. They were not invited and could be a pest humans don’t need. I’m surprised that your fish haven’t eaten them. Have a great year.

  4. Are you sure that they are not teeny little Angel fish? Look for an eye spot. If the have a tiny spot on the lager end they are some sort of fry. It’s odd that the other fish ignore them. I seem to remember that one of the gourami family will eat hydra but I’m not sure which one. Then again it might all be hallucination. Come to think of it , Hydra don’t swim around they pretty much stay where they grow or walk(?) around on their stems. I,d try some of the fish forums on the net. PeeTee

  6. You most likely have fish lice. Seriously, they look like little lice and they can be seen especially in the gravel. they are parasites and will attach to the skin of fish and cause sores. The worms sound like microworms, another parasite. Sounds like you need a better filter, and a cleaner tank. You also need to get some parasite medicine at the pet store ASAP!

  7. Really hard to tell.

Are you sure they aren’t some baby fish? They will look like tadpoles.

  8. Yes, grown fish can eat eggs or baby fish. But, then maybe a few survived. They very well could be babies. But, if they are actually clinging to the glass, it’s definitely not baby fish. Fish lice attach themselves to the fish, so, if these critters are swimming around, I doubt it’s fish lice. Here is a site on hydra. Check it out, see if it sounds like what you have. Also, here is a site of pictures of baby angels.

  9. Angels are part of the cichlid family so they should be good parents. If these are fry then the adult fish would be protecting them from the other fish in the tank. If they aren’t then they are a pest.

Fish lice are big and ugly and squishy- not really wormy
