seamonkeys

seamonkeys

These are my daughter’s new sea monkeys. She is two years old, and she had her pick of anything in toys r us under …. and she chose sea monkeys. They are 4 days old in this video. I was so mad when we first hatched them, because there was literally nothing in the tank. So, if you ever want to raise sea monkeys, don’t get over excited about the whole “instant life” gimmick. They are way too tiny to even see the first day. I got a migraine from straining my eyes trying to see the squirmy little dots. By day two, they were definitely visible through the magnifiers, but still too small to catch my daughter’s attention. As of today, day four, Liliana was able to watch them and enjoy them. She still prefers watching her blue betta named “Goldfish” build bubble nests, but I have a feeling the shrimpy little monkeys will be winning her over in a couple weeks :)

Sea Monkeys – Day 30

Sea Monkeys - Day 30

Because it’s the weekend, I was able to add a little sound. Enjoy!

75gal. Feeding time - UPDATE

Today I’m feeding my fish Hikari frozen brine shrimp. It is a favorite food of there’s and they go nuts for it! I over feed because my cories aren’t aggressive eaters! Leftover food can cause the water quality to deteriorate. So always do a small water change afterwards or use a net to get any leftovers off the bottom!

Artemia Love! (Sea Dragons, similar to Sea Monkeys)

My video aquarium diary for www.littleaussieproducts.com Yesturday (today?) at 2am I was able to record this short clip of my Sea Dragons (Australian SeaMonkeys) mating! I have never seen this before in my first tank. Those Seadragons seem to be much more active and they seem to live longer and are still real healthy… I dont know if its visible in this bad video (I use a ixed focus Aiptek AHD-200 / HD-720p with a toy binocular lens for macro), but the female has an eggsack allready! They are so much fun to watch in general, I am glad I bought some… Seems like its not only fun for kids :-) This is my second tank of Artemia Salina, a brine shrimp similar to Sea Dragons(tm) or Seamonkeys(tm). (hatched about 3-4 Week ago).
