  8. I think everything we know the whole galaxy, earth, us and the other creatures that inhibit it are actually very small on a much grander scale. I believe life as we know it is an ongoing science experience for beings much larger than us — they’re watching us from the other side of the bubble we inhibit.

Maybe each of us is ‘Digger, the dermatophyte’ and we and all of our ‘civilization’ are existing under a great cosmic toenail and turning it yellow.
Repent–it’s only a matter of time until the giant Lamisil tablet comes and ends it all.

  10. If we are sea monkeys or something, why dont our owners feed and care for us? Well, on the other hand my son has a scorpion in a fish tank and he rarely feeds IT!

  11. You must live a very sheltered life. This is as real as it gets.Once you have had to deal with responsability and caregiving for some one else, you will quit wasting your time with questions that don’t make any difference. You have a purpose here,to glorify GOD and to not only live for yourself but to help your fellowman.

  12. You know, back when I was about fourteen years old I used to go and sleep over at my best friend’s place sometimes, and we’d lie on the floor and stare up at the ceiling and talk about exactly that question for hours and hours…

Now I’m fifty (horrors!!) — and you know what?

I still don’t know the answer!

Don’t worry about it, okay? It’s a good question but aside from going into religious angles (which some can accept and others can’t), there is no real answer.

    Lenky.

  13. Okay, so as to not criticize you as many people are doing, you are actually asking an apt question that has been considered for thousands of years in philosophy, beginning primarily with the sophists. However, I think the empiricists, as well as many of the early 20th century analytic philosophers have a great response to your query, it basically can be interpreted as, “look, you have enough rational, substantial evidence to show you that, yes, you do exist, yes, the table in front of you is real, you aren’t going to wake up tomorrow to find that the world is made of paper mache. You may not ever be able to essentiall “prove” that these things exist, but the evidence impying that they do indeed exist does well. When you have enough rational evidence to explain that, yes this is probably right, you are inclined to take that position. If you later find out that that position is false, then take a pragmatic standpoint, admit you were mistaken in your theory, and move on to a more appropriate and suitable theory. ” It would be a misfortune to suspend judgment on everything because you aren’t necessarily able to “prove” something. Just believe what is rational to believe.
