Sea Monkey Problem?

Okay..so my friend and i are in charge of the class pet, sea monkeys. so that means, i am in charge because she hasn’t done a single thing so far. she did not do the research. she did not help me pay for them. she didn’t even stay to watch them hatch! her twin sister did. We are sopposed to feed them 5 days after they were hatched and that is Friday. I am gone on friday to leave for Chicago [Band Trip!!] and i put one of my other friends in charge of feeding it. Of course, she told my partner and she is mad at me. again. I am worried if she over feeds it because she is mad at me and she over feeds her betta. she thinks that “my fish is a fatty, i have to feed it 4 pellets a day” the packet only says to feed it 2. What should i do? feed them on thursday? Get someone else to do it? HELP!
Um..another thing is that my parents will not take care of them because 1. they are divorced and 2. my mom (who i live with) wont let me have any sort of pet what so ever.

  1. Don’t worry about overfeeding the sea monkeys. They have a very short life span anyway, but they reproduce like magic. We had some for several months in a cycle like that – they’d all die off, then a couple days later there’d be a bunch more wiggling around.

  3. It is difficult to overfeed seamonkeys so don’t worry about that. If you trust your friend enough, have her feed them If not, see if your parents will do it. Feed them on thursday just incase. I would have your trusted friend do it. (or ask the folks)

As for your fish, 2 pellets a day more isn’t going to hurt him, especially if he eats them.

Also seamonkies.com is a good site for you

  4. i would have your parents take care of them. since your friend isn’t being responsible. I tried keeping sea monkeys and it was too confusing for me.

  5. OK guys….sea monkeys…. You guys are soposta be tropical fish parents. Don’t you all know what sea monkeys are????
    Brin shrimp.
Just have your parents take care of them. write down directions. As far as your friend goes…… let the class know that YOU are the one who did all of it and not her and have your teach know it also.

  6. Since this is for your class, I would say for you to bring this up with your teacher. Let your teacher know that you’ve been the only one doing the work so far, but that you need to be away on Friday and are worried that they won’t be cared for.

Ask your teacher if he/she could appoint someone else to feed them if you write down the directions or show them how much they need and stress when you’ll be back to take over.

This way, you’ll show that you ARE being responsible for their care, even if by just by letting your teacher know you can’t be responsible for them this weekend. This way if anything happens over the time you’re away (your teacher leaves the care to your friend or appoints someone else and they don’t do their job) at least your teacher will know that it wasn’t because you didn’t do your job.

And I wouldn’t worry about the extra fish food. Bettas have a big difference in appetites from fish to fish. Unless yours is obviously overweight, 4 pellets isn’t that bad.
