anorexia in tiger shovelnose?

I have two catfish in my tank: a redtail and tiger shovelnose. I feed them a cube of brine shrimp each night at 7. The redtail eats normally but the shovelnose does nothing. It stays in its place and doesn’t eat at all. Is it because it is nocturnal and it doesn’t eat when the lights are on or is there something else? Please help because I don’t know what to do.

is my knife fish eating my neon tetras?

I have an african brown knife fish in my aquarium, along with a few catfish and some neon and other types of tetras. I have been feeding everything some blood worms and brine shrimp, the frozen kind, and all the fish seem to be eating and enjoying the food. but still i have noticed that every morning I am 1 tetras short of the previous number i had.

My cory catfish lost one of his whiskers. Will it grow back?

I’ve had my cory for 6 months now, very healthy and cheerful, no problems getting along with my female betta and 2 otos. However, I just noticed yesterday that one of his whiskers is now missing. I specifically bought rounded, smooth gravel for the tank to avoid this but it looks like it happened anyway. :-( He seems to be eating okay still, likes to find bloodworms, brine shrimp and flake food that my betta doesn’t grab and loves munching on algae wafers.

My question is: will the whisker grow back? Is there anything I can do to help it grow?

How many dwarf puffers will fit in a 10 gallon tank?

I just transplanted my two dwarf puffers from my 28 gallon full of community fish (zebra danios, catfish and mickey platies) to their own tank — a ten gallon tank. I syphoned 6 gallons from the 28 gallon tank, added 3 gallons of spring water, 1 hornwort plant, 2 frill plants, 2 cups of gravel substrate from the 28 gallon with new gravel that I pre-rinsed and soaked.

So far they seem to be faring well. But are two enough for the 10 gallon? I’d like to get 2 more but worry that won’t be enough “territory” for them.

Are 4 dwarf puffers going to be overcrowed in a 10 gallon tank that’s somewhat planted?

Oh. And I feed them bloodworms and give them treats of brine shrimp and tubifex worms as treats. The black ramshorn snails I get from Petsmart and bloodworms have been their staple diet in the previous 28 gallon community tank, that I plan to continue in the 10 gallon tank.

More green spotted puffer babies!! First ones = 4-1-07, now 15 more on 5-10-07, how often can this happen?

They are really green spotted puffers, not dwarf puffers. I only have the 2 full grown puffers (with neons, a molly, a catfish, etc) so the babies are obviously theirs. I know it is normally not all that common for them to breed successfully in an aquarium. It’s a very nice surprise, I just can’t believe it. The other babies weren’t all that big, so the new babies are fine with them and I have baby brine shrimp. I just wondered how many babies am I looking at with this sweet little mama and daddy puffer couple? If it’s 20 or so every 6 weeks, I got to get prepared for that, if anybody knows how often this is possible, (or how likely to happen) please let me know.
Thanks!!
These puffers are in a 10 gallon tank. I had no idea that I was getting a male and a female until they had babies. I still don’t know which is which. Bought
aquarium salt & read box about how much salt would make brackish. Fed them tropical fish flakes. Found out about blood worms, brine shrimp from yahoo answers & puffer forum. First got freeze dried. Then bought frozen later & they went crazy! Couldn’t see the frozen baby brine shrimp when I put them in the water, so I used just blood worms, freeze dried shrimp, & flakes. Bought live plants & some shells to add in. When I found babies, I already had the frozen baby brine shrimp. I started feeding the frozen shrimp to the babies. They did great! I’ve been trying to get a good picture of the babies, when I do, I’ll post them on the puffer forum. The babies are all together in a 10 gal. tank for now. I don’t know how fast they will out grow this tank. I have never taken the water temp. I have been extremely lucky! Thanks!!
