The Krib is a typical shelter breeder which will spawn in a rock cave or an inverted flowerpot which have narrow entrances. The Red-Brown eggs hatch in two to three days with both parents guarding the fry. The babies are free swimming four to five days after hatching and are easy to raise. The young can be feed baby brine shrimp “Artemia” and fine flake food. Growth is fairly quick.

I was worried the brine shrimp wouldn’t hatch in time to get these guys fed, but here they are eating. The small particles are the shrimp. If you look close, you can see some babies hanging on to the large male

This is my Jellybean Convict (I’m pretty sure he has a bit more convict in him than your typical blood parrot) named Chubbs because he LOVES to eat, anything and everything. He is a solitary fish because he ate his dither fish (3 zebra danios) within an hour of them being introduced. He’s in a 15 gallon tank for now, I’m sure he’ll outgrow it… He’s being fed wardley cichlid pellets (soon to be replaced by hikari cichlid gold), frozen brine shrimp, and an algae wafer (he likes his veggies i guess) once a week… oh and a live cricket once a month.
