Do you remember those weird ads in the back of comic books?

Sea Monkeys
X-ray glasses
Start your own worm farm
etc, etc, etc

Does anyone have a pair of those X-Ray glasses from the comic books?

I made the mistake of investing in that box of little tiny soldiers that came in a box the size of my hand. I should have spent my $1.49 on the x-ray goggles so I could see through girls clothing. It could of been worse though, at least I didn’t get stuck with sea monkeys.

What are “sea monkeys” and why do they never look like they do in the pictures?

I have sent many times for the “sea monkeys” that are advertised in the comic books. According to the illustration, they appear to be part human, part fish. They even built their own houses and play guitars as well as many things that one would not expect from an aquatic animal. Nevertheless, whenever I received them and followed the instructions, they hatched into a rather primitive looking creatures that looked nothing like the illustrations, and appeared much too stupid to build a house of any kind. Thinking that they might need company, I dumped them into my fish tank at which time they were immediately eaten by the fish. I thought that if some of the sea monkeys played their guitars, that the music would placate the fish. Well I never even saw a little guitar before they were devoured by my angel fish. Now I feel terribly guilty due to my error. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong and what I can do to prevent similar tragidies in the future

Sea Monkeys…what are they?

You remember those “Sea Monkey” adds in the back of comic books, that you could order and they came in a package and then you threw them in water and they would swim around? In the add they looked like Sea Horses. I’ve never actually seen one but wondered what they are and do they really look like a sea horse?

What if sea monkeys were actually the size the comic books depict?

What if sea monkeys were actually the size the comic books depict and they actually evolved enough to think for themselves and hated being entertainment for comic book reading kids and broke out of their fish bowls and aquariums and took over the world? But the apes from Planet of the Apes (which is actually earth apes) became jealous and didn’t want a sea monkey movie because that would be stupid so they killed all sea monkeys and everything went back to normal. Wouldn’t that be odd? What if they kept a couple of sea monkeys alive in a fish bowl jail just for the sake of a sequal?
