Getting a mandarin, question about copepods…?

Can I put a tank divider in my tank to seperate the mandarin from some of the copepods so they can multiply? Would that work?
The pet store states the mandarin is eating brine shrimp, I just want to be sure it doesn’t starve. (Haven’t gotten one yet; researching in advance).
Thanks!
I have heard the 6 month waiting period.. can somebody explain that further to me? Is it because there are not enough copepods to satisfy its needs? If you were able to feed brine shrimp and supplement with bottles of copepods, could you bypass the 6 months?

Cleaning saltwater tank with a mandarin goby (dragonet)?

I am starting up a reef tank and would eventually like to get a mandarin (in 6 plus months after much research). I am putting in crushed coral substrate and adding live rock.
I know these fish feed off of copepods (sometimes brine shrimp). I am wondering how you clean the substrate. If you vacuum the substrate, aren’t you vacuuming up the copepods – thus the mandarins food source? How does that work?
I am curious and cant figure it out.
Thank you.

MANDARIN GOBY PAIR eating brine shrimp?

My LFS currently has a pair of these in hist store they have benn eating brine shrimp for the past month. I want this pair! is it possible to keep them eating this or will they just eventually die. I have a 110 gallon tank with about 100 pounds of live rock and a deep sand bed, but i have never been able to see copepods. I dont want to buy them if i am going to just kill them. Can they survive if they are eating prepared foods? will m,y sebae clown bother them? will any of my watchmen gobies bother them?

Saltwater Automatic Feeders – Frozen Foods?

I have a clown, one firefish, one long nose hawkfish, a green mandarin, and a bicolor goby. all of them love to eat frozen mysid and brine shrimp and not much else. Of course the mandarin goes for the pods. But I am planing on being away for possibly up to two weeks. I don’t really have any options other than to get an automatic feeder for these guys, b/c I am new to the area and I don’t have anyone who could check up on them and feed them for me. Are there any options out there to have an automatic feeder to feed frozen foods? I would give them live food, but I have a 37 gal. eclipse and I am not sure how I could hook up something to that to give them a continuous supply of live food. The tank is completely covered with a hood. Could I just dump a bunch of pod and brine cysts in there to hatch while I am gone? That would ruin the water quality. Does anyone know of how I could pull a two-week vacation and still have live fish when I get back w/o having to give them unwantedfood
