i have 5 pairs of baby guppies and i would really like to breed them for many reasons (feeder fish, pet store ,pond fish,or as pets)i have an 8-10 gallon octigon tank and i have 10 baby fancy tailed guppies the pet shop was using the babies for feeder fish and i decided to try and breed them.i have been feeding them tubiflex worms and goldfish flakes.i have a pretty good size pond in my back yard with a waterfall and stream in it.the pond is man made and i have nothing but a 7in red eared slidder to put in it and i would like the fancy tailed guppies to be a part of it.and i went and bought a tube of brine shrimp eggs but i don’t know how to hatch them.please help and happy new year.i am only 13 but i hear guppies are the easyiest fish to breed for begginers except goldfish.

I’m trying to get a tank of African Cichlids up and running for my husband. I have very little experience with fish, but have done a little bit of research. I have a 29 gallon tank with a heater (It’s 79 degrees). The ph of my water is about 8.2, and I have gravel, some artificial plants, and a lot of large rock for them to hide in. I had the tank up and running with no fish in it for about 3 weeks before I got the fish. Last week I got 11 small africans and put them in the tank after acclimating them, and they all died in the last 2 days. They didn’t appear to be ill, looked healthy, and were eating some flake food and brine shrimp. I’m going to take a water sample and a couple of the fish back to the pet shop to have them checked, but would like some input. My husband has had cichlids in the past (lost them in his divorce), and I’m trying to get a new tank up and running as a surprise for him. I’m getting pretty frustrated with it, though.

I have been to loads of fish shops in search of live food for my breeding of betta splendens, but it seemed that they only stocked them on a very random basis.I replaced live food with boiled earthworm cut up very finely (it works great), but i went to all the hassle of finding or digging them up , scalding them with water , cutting them with a scissors and freezing them for later…. and being always told by my fiancee that I was disgusting. One day my 6 year old daughter returned from a toy shop down the road with “sea monkeys”? I never heard of them either, on close inspection they turned out to be brine shrimp that a child could harvest and keep them for a guaranteed 2 years, they multiply or breed or whatever readily…..I couldnt believe it, happy days, so its the toy shop for pet food and pet shop for pet toys ( i have dogs too).
