Breeding Betta Fish???

I was thinking about breeding Betta fish over the summer and I have a few questions:

1) What materials do I need?
2) How do I condition the fish?
3) What do I do when the fish is pregnant?
4) When should I remove male/ female fish?
5) what is normal behavior?
6) what is not normal behavior?
7) What is the most information to have? 8) How should I set up the tank?
9) What do I do when the fish are born?
10) How many times a day should I feed the Brine shrimp eggs?
11) What are good types of plants to put in with them?
12) How long does this take?
13) How many eggs usually survive?
14) How do I keep the parents comfortable and get them through the stressful process?
15) What is usually the price range for everything?
16) What should I feed the parents and the babies besides Brine shrimp eggs?

* If you have any good websites that I can buy supplies from that are depandable they would be very helpful = )

**Any other information is greatly appretiated

Here’s one for you. It’s about how much fun we had here last Summer. Do you like it?

Poetry

Aye, Captain
and good lads and lasses,
a well-fed, pot bellied crew are we,
Set sail each day on these windless doldrums,
Cargo hold filled to capacity.

Ports of call where no ship can anchor,
Bottomless abyss of minds in torpor,
Some high as a kite,
Some a long, drunken stupor,
Then Stoogie arrives with his old pooper scooper.

No ill intent or foul wishes for thee,
Just a joke with rhyme akimbo,
Monkey-parrot devil-dog erasers,
We patrol this strange sea for the lost,
on our good ship, three masted
Will-o’-the-wisp chaser, her name?

I’ve been trying to be a published poet for years. I’ve sold everything but poetry…songs, essays, magazine articles…I need an agent, I think.

Angelfish laid eggs.?

My angelfish just laid eggs, for the first time in over a year. I had them for about a year and a half and they spawned in the summer. They spawned 3 times over a period of months… It has been another year and a half since the last spawn. I successfully got 4 angelfish fry to live for a while, moving them to a community tank. They lived for a few months, then one of the angelfish that was bigger I think picked on them. They all ended up dying somehow >< We moved houses actually since there last breed. Finally they bred again! Anyways, I got a bunch of eggs now. The eggs have hatched, I think, there are little bodies hanging from the filter tube now (thats where the eggs were laid). They just hatched a few hours ago, I think, this morning they were still eggs. Anyways, what should I do? Last time I moved them into a 5 gallon tank. Fed them fry food, and a little bit of baby brine shrimp (I could not produce that many quick enough to feed them.) So should I move them now?

I am looking for a good book to read. Please post a summary along with your suggestion….?

I’m 18 years old and I’m just looking for a good summer read. I’ve read and liked Lord of the Flies, The Giver, Gone with the Wind, 1984, Turnabout, Feed, Stargirl, A Walk to Remember, the Pearl, the Outsiders, Neverwhere, and a lot of Ray Bradbury stuff. I also like the Monkey’s Paw by Edgar Allan Poe- if there is a novel that has the same feel as it, then that would be great.

I’ve also read Harry Potter, Animal Farm, the Old man and the Sea, Cirque du Freak, The Grapes of Wrath, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked this Way Comes, and the Notebook, so don’t post those either.

And no books with ‘adult scenes’ (Flowers for Algernon is my limit). Nothing disgusting/ erotic.

Right now I’m feeling like reading a good sci- fi book, but I’ve never really read a book in that genre. If you can list a good sci- fi book with a teenage protagonist, I think it would work better for me. That goes for all other genres too.

Marine Setup and Help?

I have decided to switch to saltwater fish keeping, and hope to get started next spring/summer. I am buying a Seventy Five gallon tank, and need some help with the equipment. What is crucially needed, and what is not? I know I need a powerful marine designed filter, as well as a brine shrimp breeding tank so I can feed the fish live fish along with their diet. I’ve heard the actual water setup takes up to a month to settle before you can add fish, as all the elements have to be just right. What should the readings for salinity, nitrates and nitrites be if you know off the top of your head. I would love to know exactly what equipment for maitenence and daily care I need, as I would honestly hate to waste a lot of money on unecessary items. As for the fish, I realize healthy stock are the most important part after teh tank is cultured, and have found a reliable dealer that is less than 15mins. from my home. I plan on keeping smaller Dwarf Angels, Gobies, maybe a Jawfish, Clownfish, etc.
It would be great to kow what product brands are most reliable, and sites urls where I can order them as well. What kind of fish do you keep, I am interested in knowing about your experiances and what you have learned through the trials and tribulations of saltwater aquaria. Would you recommend any certain species, products, etc.? I was interested in the Live sand for the tank too, but there are so many kinds, crushed coral, carribean sand, pacific, tahiti, etc. etc. What about a Moonlight setting on the powerhead, as well as an evening and daylight one, are the first two needed or just fancy doodads? Any help at all would be appreciated, please do not say ‘I don’t know’, that is not an answer. Answer only if you have a saltwater tank, or have had one. Thanks, feel free to email me if you need to.
I thought the Protein Skimmer was a filter, [it's more than expensive enough to be] So why do I need one along with the filter? I will get one of course, just wondering… lol Would you recommend using dead or live rock? I know both need to be cycled seperately as they can mess with the tank water once it is done cycling and all. That was the word I couldn’t remember last night. Cycling. lol. Is it safe to purchase pre-cycled water, or is that a scam?
