I think my betta was bullying one of the ghost shrimp and killed him. The ghost shrimp laid motionless as I poked him and did not move when I net him up. Nor was he pink or white which usually meant they are dead, he was as clear as can be. I put him in the Triops tank, not wanting him to go to waste and as a Triops snatched him up I saw him move his swimmerets very weakly. I fell really bad now, but there was nothing I could do to save his life even if I took him away from the Triops. T_T Video Rating: 5 / 5
these little critters hatched about 2 weeks ago in water i was about to throw out as was stagnant and not looking like any of the triops were going to hatch, but wow these guys are really growing fast and so far…. fingers crossedf theres not been any losses through canabalistic behaviour as they are famous for eating each other, nice lol not these are so interesting and better than sea monkeys or brine shrimp in my opinion. so enjoy and look forward to your comments, please be nice though, cheers Triops cancriformis are not the same as the commonly sold Triops longicaudatus, a species which needs heated aquaria for raising. T cancriformis is happy in water that you’d keep your goldfish in 20 Celsius compared to 28 c for T Longicausdatus *No heaters required*. T cancriformis also happens to be the largest Triops species in the world with some individuals measuring in at a colossal 4.5 inches (11 cm) in length. To give a comparison, this giant out grows the common T longicaudatis by nearly double its size! Video Rating: 5 / 5
You can all watch them grow with me ^^ So today is actually day 8 for them, but in my last video I went from day 1-3 and now I’ve done day 3-7 using the same song! Its amazing thinking that just over a week ago it was a little egg ^^ Squiggles has started to be a lot more active, I’m guessing its just because he/shes growing lol. But its very interesting to watch! ^^ As I said at the end of the video, my smaller triop died, I’m guessing Squiggles killed it, but obviously I’m not certain! I have a few plans for Squiggles…there are a few risks but being a beginner Squiggles is like an experiment to see if I can look after them and to find out what I can and can’t do! I thought I’d lost him/her once and to be honest I don’t really want to loose him/her for real…but obviously they don’t last long and I need to experiment a bit so I can get it right in the future! My plan is to put Squiggles into a bigger tank which I bought the other day! It is long so has plenty of room for him/her…but its quite high and need to be 3/4 filled for the heater to work properly and keep the temperature where it needs to be! Also, I know what triops are meant to be like and that they will eat smaller fish and each other and bigger fish might eat them etc…but I read on a website that they don’t harm Neon Tetras, is that true? And can Tetras survive in distilled water? I would love to be able to add them to the tank to add a bit of colour and make it all a bit more interesting…but I don’t …
